CUBE

SOUND-PERFORMATIVE INSTALLATION
BY SANTIAGO VILLAR

Cube (2022) is a sound-performative installation.  Four hanging thunder sheets form a prism-shaped sculpture. Each of them is excited by a bass shaker installed on it. Additionally, a real-time controlled geometric projection is cast onto one of the sides.

Programm note:

Sometimes we feel closed in. Between four walls, a ceiling and a floor, in ourselves, or even in the city itself.

The accelerated and technological hustle and bustle of everyday life and frustration often do not allow us to see the treasures that these cubes hide inside their walls, they become an illusion, a non-reality.

Cubes, cubes, cubes, cubes,

High, low, and high, and higher, higher,

Far, far out, out, out, far,

Planes, planes, planes,

Colours, lights, signs, whistles, bells, signals, colours,

Planes, planes, planes,

Eyes, eyes, window eyes, eyes, eyes,

Nostrils, nostrils, chimney nostrils,

Breathing, burning, puffing,

Thrilling, puffing, breathing, puffing,

Millions of things upon things,

Billions of things upon things

This for the eye, the eye of being,

At the edge of the Hudson,

Flowing timeless, endless,

On, on, on, on….
