DUO ALBOR
Formed in 2023 at the Musik-Akademie Basel, Duo Albor is the artistic union of Spanish pianist Claudia Fernández Parrondo and Venezuelan soprano Siddhii Lagrutta. Despite their recent collaboration, their shared heritage and love for Hispanic culture have sparked the flame for their initial repertoire and laid the foundation of a promising musical partnership.
Claudia and Siddhii first met as students, when they discovered a unique and complementary synergy in which they mutually elevate their performances. Their first programme together, rooted in Spanish and Latin-American literature, features masterpieces such as Manuel de Falla's 7 Canciones Populares, VillaLobos' Bachianas Brasileiras 5, alongside works by Albeniz and Ginastera.
Eager to broaden their artistic horizons, Duo Albor has expanded their repertoire to embrace French and German songs, including compositions by Mozart, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Fauré, Hahn, Poulenc, and Debussy.
Under the guidance of professors Jan Schultsz, Anton Kernjak, and Tobias Schabenberger, the duo has honed their craft with great dedication. Their performances at the Musik-Akademie Basel have already garnered attention, and they are now poised to take their talents to broader audiences. Their duo name, Albor, has its roots in Claudia’s native Galicia. The word albor means dawn, and carries with it the hope of new beginnings for the young duo.
Duo Albor is not just a collaboration; it is a celebration of cultural heritage, artistic exploration, and the pursuit of musical excellence.
